From the Old Testament to the New, anointing oil has been used to symbolize God’s cleansing, healing, and empowering presence on whoever or wherever it was applied. God instructed His people to set aside the highest quality olive oil for His purposes, to anoint kings, priests, and to use as they worshipped God in His temple. God still instructs us to use oil today, to anoint those going through struggles of any sort, and especially for healing.
Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. James 5:13-15
Sunday, September 2nd we will be giving everyone who attends one of our services their own bottle of anointing oil to take home and use – and another to give to a friend or loved one. The oil is free of charge, but it is important to come to our meetings to listen and learn how to use it by faith.
